Audits
To say 'post occupancy check' to an 8 year old means nothing. A simple rephrasing to 'Energy Spying', however really engages with pupils and can achieve the same outcome. The school energy project encourages the energy team to conduct audits on classes when full and empty to see where equipment is being left on needlessly. The energy spies record on fun sheets what they have seen. Some schools prefer to allocate points and reward good savers in special assemblies or other spies like to leave notes on teachers desks congratulating them for good energy behaviour or asking them to try harder!
When combined with the meter reading this targeting and monitoring can really help to reduce electricity use through behaviour at the school.
