Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can be seen as the recognition and ownership of responsibility from a company for its social and environmental impact in the local community. CSR is rapidly growing in recognition and importance within companies and aims to produce a sustainable future from the actions of the companies of today.
The Atkins Schools Energy Education project provides an exciting way to cover both the social and environmental aspects highlighted from CSR by focussing on schools in the local community.
What is the Atkins Schools Energy Education Project?
The Atkins Schools Energy Education Project works with schools to drive energy efficiency through meter readings, curriculum linked lessons and assemblies. Community stakeholders are engaged through energy themed open days to drive energy efficiency at home as well as in the class room.
The project aims to change behaviour through raising awareness and increasing pupils' ownership and inclusion in the management of their school environment. The activities and assemblies are tailored to each school, producing a bespoke package linking to any existing programmes or commitments in school for maximum participation and energy saving. This package of measures is facilitated by the Atkins School Energy Advisors to alleviate pressures on teaching staff.
Our many years of experience in delivering energy savings in schools plus our continual generation of new ideas achieves a fresh approach to energy efficiency that involves the whole school community. We believe that education is open to all and our project enables all pupils to take part and to feel included in saving energy for the school and at home. Pupils also gain a greater understanding of how their individual effort can contribute to helping the environment.
Schools Energy and CSR
Your company could have the opportunity to fund one or more schools in your locality through the Atkins Schools Energy Education Project. By doing so your company will be helping the local community to achieve energy savings. It shows that your company acknowledges current environmental concerns and works with the local community to address them.
The certification achieved by the schools in the project sponsored by your company can have a knock on effect of attracting positive media attention to your company showing the beneficial work it does in the local community.
Our educational message can be easily adapted to your company environment leading to increased energy efficiency internally which saves money and boosts the environmental profile of your company increasing its sustainability.
